Alzheimer’s and Dementia Tea Dance at Peterborough Town Hall
The Peterborough Telegraph reported on this local initiative by the P.D.A.A.
Looks like they had great fun!
The sounds of 1950s music propelled people with dementia and Alzheimer’s on to the dance floor for a special event at Town Hall in Bridge Street.
The Spring Tea Dance was put on by the Alzheimer’s Society alongside the Peterborough Dementia and Action Alliance which supports the charity.
The dance was held on Friday, May 22, with around 50 residents and their carers taking to the dance floor for up to three hours.
The dance was an opportunity to try something new during Dementia Awareness Week and Debbie Holmes, volunteering officer at the society, said: “Everyone who was involved had a fantastic time.”
Colin and Hilda Adams and Ellie Ashwoth and Norman Colvert, are pictured alongside Debbie, Lynne Carter and Alison Harrison.
The society is holding a volunteer open day on Monday, June 1, from 10am to 2pm, at the Dementia Resource Centre in Lincoln Road.
