Dementia daytime support centre opens in Macclesfield

The charity Age UK has opened a daytime support centre for people with dementia in Cheshire.

The newly refurbished centre on Henderson Street in Macclesfield will welcome their first service users this week, and provides the chance of valuable daytime respite for carers.

The service will offer a wide range of activities combining mental, physical and social stimulation, including arts & craft, reminiscence, quizzes, music therapy, group interaction and trips out.

The centre will be open between 9:30am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday and is available to anyone age 50 or over with memory problems. Places must be booked in advance and cost £49 per day.

Refreshments and a hot 2 course meal will be provided and transport to and from the centre can be arranged by way of the charity’s brand new minibus or with a volunteer driver.

As a local charity focusing on the needs of older people, we have many years’ experience of providing interesting, stimulating and appropriate activities for people living with dementia.
We are extremely proud to open the doors to our brand new service which will enable us to help a higher number of local older people living with dementia, and their carers.
