Outstanding dementia care recognised in Harrogate
If you're searching for care for a loved one with dementia it's hard not to be left in a state of fear and apprehension when the media is full of stories about the 'state of crisis' in the social care system. But one Yorkshire care home has proved high quality care is still out there by being awarded Outstanding in its recent CQC inspection.
Vida Grange, a specialist dementia care home in Harrogate, North Yorkshire has been rated Outstanding by the CQC.
The Vida Healthcare service, which cares for up to 124 people across eight units, was inspected in November, less than a year after opening.
Person Centred approach to dementia care
The report highlighted the person-centred approach in the home, recognising the efforts made to meet people’s individual needs and the very positive impact this had on their wellbeing.
The CQC also highlighted the specialist training, excellent support and mentorship staff at the home were given to ensure they had the skills and knowledge to provide the highest standards of care and support.
Residents living at Vida told inspectors they were supported by exceptionally caring staff who respected their privacy and dignity.
Visitors said they were made to feel welcome and were fully involved in their family member’s support and wellbeing.
Specialist dementia design
The inspectors also saw the positive benefits of the carefully designed, purpose-built environment, which kept residents safe, promoted independent living and helped to reduce anxiety and stress.
